Connectivity

What does it mean? Are we really connected in this age of twitter and facebook? Or are we further apart?
To begin understanding something you need to wrap your head around its meaning. Connectivity means by the definition of Webster, the quality, state, or capability of being connective or connected. It seems to be cold by definition but if we dwell into the idea of being connected as human beginning and not machines it gets a little complicated.
After all there is an art to the connectivity of humans, a reason why we assemble and group. We look for similarities of interest and ideas. We often group because of the chemical attractions. There are two factions to connectivity, those who don’t want the human interaction and those who do. The first group tends to connect only by the way of the machine collecting peoples by leeway of likes and favorites. They seek only those who can drive their feeds online. The second rarely but sometimes goes online and populates as many parties and events as they can, collecting people and groups. Most of us camp in the two sanctions and co mingle in both worlds.
I find myself in the extreme of both ideas often. Sometimes I just want to connect with the onliners and give a shot out every once and awhile to let them know I am not dead. Other times I find myself (especially in the summer months) joining every activity in the sun, either signing up for a run or attending a festival with a group. Just finding anything to get out and be with others. I am currently working on when I get a chance here and there on a art piece about connectivity, hoping to even further explore its meaning to me and others.
I will leave you with this quote to ponder. “The stars up there at night are closer than you think.” ― Doug Dillon
